OnlyFans Reverses Course on Banning Sexually Explicit Content

OnlyFans has reversed course just days after telling content creators that all 'sexually explicit content' would be banned on the site starting October 1, 2021.  This turned the lives of many content creators upside down & created a panic within their community. Many of the comments to this tweet question the use of the word 'suspend' rather than saying it is 'cancelled.'  Creators don't know what to believe after the company turned their backs on them only days earlier & who can blame them?  What a mess they have created for themselves while opening up opportunities for other platforms to swoop in & capitalize on this.  Will OnlyFans be able to survive this?

OnlyFans New Acceptable Use Policy - Not Good News For Camguys

OnlyFans has released their updated 'Acceptable Use Policy' as of October 1, 2021.  It isn't good news for camguys as they will need to find new platforms to market content they currently create.  The changes in section 5b prohibit any sexual simulation, actual or simulated masturbation, no extreme exhibition of the anus or genitals, & no 'cum.'

OnlyFans To Ban Explicit Sexual Content In October

As expected popular content site OnlyFans announced they will be making changes to what is allowed on the site in October.  All explicit sexual content will be banned from the site starting this October.  Creators will be allowed to post nude photos & videos as long as they are in line with OnlyFans policies, see the linked article for what won't be allowed.  OnlyFans is under pressure from banking partners & payment providers to clear the site of certain content which is the reason for this policy change.  But will this be as far as OnlyFans goes with this policy?  Read the last paragraph in the article...

As I began to think more about this if OnlyFans is being pressured from their banks & payment processors it is likely a matter of time before sites such as just4.fans will too.  Being a part of the XBIZ.net forum I have seen posts regarding banking issues in the adult industry & it isn't as easy to operate as one may think.

OnlyFans Aims To Pivot From Porn

A popular website used by webcam performers, adult actors, & beyond is planning on making big changes to their business model.  OnlyFans is planning to pivot away from porn in a move that could effect thousands of camguys who have been making a living by selling their content on the website.  The initial announcement didn't make it clear if all porn would cease on the website or how this new business model would work.  If their goal is to attract mainstream advertisers it is unlikely porn will be allowed on the site as those advertisers wouldn't touch the website for obvious reasons.

In May a BBC investigation uncovered that underage individuals were selling 'explicit content' on the site.  Their investigative article (link) is an interesting read as it details exactly how these underage individuals got involved with OnlyFans & got around age verification systems.  This didn't help the sites reputation but their business continues to be profitable unlike other competing websites.  Content creators earn 80% of their total sales while OnlyFans takes the other 20% making this an attractive alternative to working on a camsite for many creators.

If all porn content is barred from the website what will this mean for several camguys & porn actors who make nearly 7 figures or more selling their content on the website? CGN will provide more information as it becomes available but many young men will potentially need to find a new place to sell their content & begin to completely rebuild their business too.
