Scam-Guys (Jake Orion & Jesse Prather) & How To Protect Yourself

Updated 8/25/19 with more victims of Jesse Prather coming forward.
Recently CGN has reported on members of camsites being scammed out of their money by camguys.  Members who were scammed continue to come forward on Twitter & forum posts sharing their stories while even calling out those who are doing the scamming.  This article will review a few of these situations & suggest ways of keeping yourself from becoming a victim too.  It would also be helpful if our readers would share their thoughts or suggestions in the comments section at the bottom.

We start off with the recently "retired" Jake Orion who leaves behind an impressive trail of lies & scams.  He is immune to begging & asking his followers to give merchandise or cash as he believes there is nothing wrong with it.  One of his most recent scams was pre-selling gay sex videos & coming up with excuse after excuse for not making the videos that he pre-sold.  He quickly made the videos after a gay porn blog exposed his scam & suggested that anyone who was scammed report him to the FBI (link).  Follow this link to read about his other lies/scams & how he goes about taking advantage of his followers.

Recently we shared how Jesse Prather scammed a member on Chaturbate out of money using an SOB story (link).  Another member has contacted CGN sharing how he "loaned" Jesse money & nearly a year later has not attempted to repay the loan.  During our exchange he shared how Jesse attempted to take advantage of Parker Kane (both former Voyeur Boys) who was helping him get settled in San Diego.  Parker put an end to it which lead Jesse on a rant where he offered to sell Parker's personal contact information & where he works as well.  In return Parker tweets to Jesse's porn agent what he is up to & questions his character...

Unfortunately this situation continues to unfold & Jesse's response to Parker is "I honnestly don't care to be honnest" when confronted about his poor behavior.  He obviously doesn't use the word "honest" often as he cannot even spell it.  We just learned yet another person who was scammed by Jesse is ready to tell their story as well, we will include a link here once it becomes available.

Here is another person coming forward sharing how she dated Jesse for a brief period of time & what he did to her.  We also found a link to Jesse's old Twitter account she gained control of & posted a detailed story of what he did to her... Keep in mind not all camguys are scammers as there are many outstanding guys on webcam.  It is the few bad actors who give these good guys & their camsites a bad name.  Here are some suggestions on how to keep yourself from becoming a victim of scamming & if you do send money to a camguy off-site an idea of how to document the entire transaction from start to finish...

- Keep all financial transactions with camguys on camsites or on clip sites where users must agree to written terms of service & customer service is available 24/7 to help if a situation should arise.  Of all these suggestions presented here this is the most important one to keep in mind.

- If a camguy from Chaturbate scams you off-site the camsite will tell you we are sorry this happened but we cannot help you as it didn't occur on our camsite.  If you tip a performer what he requests for him to do/or show something or if he fails to perform a show they sold you or ask for more credits/tokens leave the show immediately.  Report it to customer service taking note of the time of the incident, name of the performer, & details of what exactly happened.  The Flirt-4-Free customer service reps handle such situations very well while Chaturbate lags far behind.

- Read performer reviews written by members of the camsite if such a feature is offered.  Keep in mind some camsites (Flirt-4-Free) do allow their performers to decide which of their reviews are published & some members will write negative reviews if the performer doesn't do something they demand for free.  In reading through reviews look for ones citing the most specific information.

- Read through a performers social media accounts to see what they are posting & how they interact with followers.  If they are into drugs, constantly asking for money, or saying "trust me" often be very wary of them & trust your gut which is probably telling you to not get involved.  When a performer often says "trust me" or "I always tell the truth" there is a reason they feel the need to say it.

- If a performer asks you for money off-camsite to help pay for something (food, rent, etc.) don't be afraid to tell them no, but if you do want to help out tell them you can take them private on the camsite or subscribe to a clip-site if applicable.  If they continue giving excuses why that isn't good enough tell them sorry that is the best you can do & say goodnight or move on to another camguy.  These guys aren't your "real" friends & you don't really know them.

- If you do give a performer money off-site ask that the performer send an email to you clearly outlining what you are giving & what they are sending/agreeing to in return.  Make sure you take screen shots of all the communication from email to the actual financial transaction.  If the performer doesn't follow through after you send the money you then have everything documented which will put you in a position of power when demanding the performer deliver what he promised or let him know legal action will be taken using the documentation.

Scam-Guy Jake Orion Retires & Jesse Prather Emerges

Last week a camguy well known for his lying & scams announced his retirement from webcamming.  However when one goes dormant another ones deceitful actions take center stage though.  This week a Chaturbate member contacted CGN telling us how Jesse Prather used a SOB story to scam him out of money & hasn't heard from him since or received what he was promised in return.  The entire situation has negatively affected the member in many ways & he hopes by telling his story others won't fall victim as he did.

The Chaturbate member received a message on the site from the performer that he wanted to chat.  The performer told him "my internet was being shutoff later that day along with his power but didn't have money to pay it & hadn't eaten in days."  He also said he had to pay his rent but without internet or power he had no way of earning money to pay it & asked that the member send him money to help.  In return he was offered homemade videos & several free private webcam shows to which the member agreed & sent the money.  The performer didn't log back in that night to do the first of the private shows & the member hasn't been able to contact him since but feels he knows where his money went...

The member goes on telling CGN "The same evening I sent the money he posted a video of himself on Snap Chat smoking a bowl saying I got the most incredible weed."  A week later he logged in on webcam again & the member asked "What was going on I didn't hear back from you after sending the money?"  Quickly he was silenced which angered him as he knew he was being scammed.  He learned from another member he was one of several victims including a female webcam performer that he lived with for a short while was scammed too.

The theme of each situation was promises made & promises not being lived up to with the victims being silenced or blocked when requesting he make good on his promises.  The member ends by saying "Jesse is one of the few models I followed & liked but I had no idea he could be so deceitful."  Keep in mind there are good webcam performers & a few bad seeds shouldn't give them a bad name too.  It is a good idea to keep all transactions with webcam performers on webcam sites or content sites with written policies that all parties must agree to & have customer service agents there to help if the need should arise.
