2015 Award Shows & Thoughts...

2015 has become the year of the Webcam Industry Award Shows.  Starting with the well planned & successful Live Cam Awards (LCA's), followed by the Adult Webcam Awards (AWA's), & now the Adult Webcam Industry Awards (AW-Awards).  We have yet to review the AW-Awards Show so we'll go over the highlights, then share some of our thoughts & opinions on all these so called "awards" shows in general.

The AW-Awards are part of the AW Summit, one of the biggest in the industry.  Their logos are on our lower right sidebar & are linked to their websites. Their show will be streamed live on the internet & will feature dinner, famous singers, acrobats, & more. Click the "vote here" icon on their website to get setup - the nomination period ends April 15.  Voting for the finalist goes from April 16th - June 1st. Their voting system is weighted - AW considers their sponsors & event attendees more knowledgeable so their votes have various values added when compared to all other votes, like yours who the industry couldn't survive without your money. 

When voting in the model categories (not for exec of the year, etc..) I feel we the fans voice should be heard equally as none of this would be possible if not for us. Other than the weighted voting it appears with everything they have planned that this is going to be quite the entertaining & premiere event.

I know that some of my thoughts & opinions posted here have rankled the feathers of one events organizers (particularly an event to be held in Las Vegas in 2016), but so be it.  I find it sad that some are unable to accept constructive criticism or at least listen to a differing opinion (are we at BN&F right now?)  Learning how to accept constructive criticism is a part of life, it is how we improve, & also a trait that successful businessmen or women share & will talk openly about.  But in this case some are very thin skinned.

For an event to call those questioning a process or worthiness of an event "jealous saboteurs" is quite misguided & close minded - reminds me of the term "Hater." Take what is being said & always look to improve, it is how these other events or expos have developed into what they are today....respected events which bring something unique to the table with class & professionalism.

Here is an idea I believe would work out well, be fun, & meaningful as well.  Have one yearly rotating award show hosted by the already established & well attended summits & expo events.  Make it an open event allowing members, models, & industry workers a single vote with no weighting by who is casting it or favoring models of large donor sites. Put a process in place that isn't confusing by having a nomination period, followed by a vote for the top 5 -10 in each category.  The male models should also have more than one award - how about a few subcategories followed by awarding "The Golden Penis" for best male live cam model?  In looking at all this it really isn't all that difficult is it folks?

Finally, due to the difficulty of getting a VISA into the United States the event should be held in some tropical location as it would be a good draw.  We'd love for you to share your ideas or thoughts on all these award shows below...

A New Owner At BN&F

BN&F announced on March 16th they finally found new ownership of the blog.  It was announced that staff member Matthew would be taking over the reins.  It was quietly announced on Twitter late in the night but no other formal announcement on the blog was made.  For this reason I ended this article with a question that kept popping into my mind, after reading it let us know if you were thinking the same.

From Matthew's past comments he was the only person willing to attempt to keep the blog running & is doing it as a favor to Benjy.  This is also a surprise because many of the blog's readers don't care for Matthew's unprofessional comments & childish name calling of those not sharing his opinion.  Recently on Miss Murmurs the former owner Benjy was chatting with her readers who told him that Matthew's mannerisms are the reason they quit reading his blog all backed by specific examples.  One of the readers of BN&F left this message for the former owner... 

With Matthew at the helm the blog likely won't change much at all & will continue to be one sided, probably even more so based on his history.  If you don't agree with their views & comment otherwise be prepared to be called a hater which will get you chased away by an angry mob the blog is now known for.  Many of the blog's more moderate readers such as Jeff from above may also quite reading the blog as well.  Do you think all this is why the announcement was only made on Twitter late on a Monday night?

A Bad Day For John Blastar...

John Blastar a Latvian model in his 3rd year online wasn't having a good day on Tuesday & made some comments that got my attention along with several of our readers too.  He was online for 8 hours & made a total of $2.00 before letting out all his frustration via his twitter account. 

Probably not the best place to blow off some steam but if it helps...  It was his next comments  in which he continued blowing of steam that were attention getting & alarming too, even with the smiley face following them...

His day did improve as a fan stopped by for a private & tipped him over 500 credits & he logged off shortly after.  It was probably good for John to get away & take a walk or get a workout in before returning, which he did later in the evening.  All models have their bad days or periods & in most cases it turns around as I'm sure it will for John too.  So keep your head up John & stay positive!

I've spent a little time in John's room & have always enjoyed following him on his twitter as he is a good photographer that shares beautiful pictures of his home city of Riga.  A few are pictured to the left, including a new one today of the Aurora Borealis. A New Las Vegas Webcam Conference & Award Show - Will It Happen?

Have you heard about the Adult Webcam Conference & Awards scheduled to be held in Las Vegas, NV?  Both are to be held January 15, 2016 at the Luxor Hotel & Casino pending enough sponsorship to make this happen.  Chaturbate is said to be on board, but rumors circulating are it isn't a paid sponsorship with their Platinum Level status costing $12,000.

The Adult Webcam Awards (AWA's) are similar to the recent Live Cam Awards with different award categories offering 18 overall.  Voting in some of their categories has already began with others to follow at a later date.  I find the process being used to be confusing & not well planned out like the Live Cam Awards.  There is a single round of voting in this event whereas the Live Cam Awards had a nominations period followed up by a final voting round consisting of the top vote earners.  CGN will keep you posted on this voting process as we learn more about it.

One thing we do know is that Max Hughes has been nominated for the Best Male Cam Model 2015 so congratulations to Max for being nominated.   

The Adult Webcam Conference is trying to differentiate their event from similar events by putting the focus on performers.  However this really isn't any different at all. The event will kick-off with a guest speaker touted as one of the biggest names in all of webcamming, meaning they hope they can find someone.  The tracks include Personal Branding & Social Media, Security - Law - Taxes, Tricks of the Trade, & Affiliate Marketing.  Much of this could be considered "Webcamming For Dummies" as there is nothing new here other than affiliate marketing.

CGN will keep an eye on this event as more detailed information is made available. Any model or interested observer may attend this event but be prepared to shell out $250-$500 for admittance (refunds available only if event is cancelled.)  

The organizer doesn't know much about the Male Webcam Industry as they asked on Twitter who the camguy in a Voyeur Boy tweet was.  With Jaden Storm's resume I'd think someone starting an event would be able to figure this out.  It is still early so the organizers have time to fix these issues so the events are unique & worthwhile.  Their #1 goal has to be getting more sponsorship money otherwise none of this will matter at all.  Despite the odd timing of the event with huge AVN Event the following week also in Las Vegas (maybe they should change their dates) at lot has to come together so I wish them the best, it looks as if they are going to need it.

Russian Performer Jeoffry Is Back Online & Talking About His Dismissal...

Just less than a month ago we told you that Russian model Jeoffry had been fired for some unknown reason.  During the last several weeks his profile remained on Flirt-4-Free which led us to believe it was Contour Studio which had fired him.  When CGN along with a few of our readers asked his studio friends what happened they only said he had been fired but didn't know the reason why.

Today Jeoffry resurfaced on Flirt-4-Free for the first time since news of his dismissal broke.  Many stopped by to welcome him back again & chatted with him regarding the situation.  When asked, Jeoffry said he was fired from Contour Studio because they cut his salary by 50% & he wasn't happy about it.  Some words were likely exchanged which lead to his dismissal.  Jeoffry now broadcasts from his home & said that he is making 70%, after Flirt-4-Free takes their 70% that is.  His new work arrangement is through Contour Studio, but he said he may only work remotely from his home.

During Jeoffry's first shift back today he was much more engaging & personal than he ever was before his dismissal. When asked by members if he would do this or that if they were to take him into private Jeoffry seemed much more willing & open to perform certain types of shows than he would have prior to his earlier dismissal.  Jeoffry added he was glad to be back working again but preferred working in the studio rather than his apartment.  If you see him online stop by to welcome him back & just say hello.  Let's hope he stays engaging & keeps his mood positive.

2015 CGN Favorite Camguy Poll: Favorite Russian Results

Our March Readers Poll where we asked "Which Russian Model is Your Favorite" has come to a close.  The response was tremendous as our readers sure do enjoy their Russian models as 10,802 votes were cast in total.  In the end the winner was Kevin Talf who amassed 4,564 votes overall.  Below are the final results from this poll, thanks to all who voted!

Welcome Back: Tiimmy

A Conclusion To The Drama At BN&F (Ben's News)

Finally a conclusion to the latest scandal to rock Ben's News & Friends.  C.V. is the new publisher who took over for Benjy Franklin posted false claims two weeks into his tenure about Miss Murmurs finally surfaced.  It took him over 24 hours & quitting as publisher before finally writing an apology to everyone touched by his actions.  Based on comments on all of the blogs it will be interesting to see where BN&F goes even with C.V. out of the picture as this whole fiasco will haunt them for a while.  Here is the apology we alluded to...

New Editor At Ben's News Blog Gets Himself In A Major Fiasco...

Matthew posts article regarding future of BN&F.  Short lived owner/publisher reportedly removes himself from BN&F & no longer has ability to post.  Readers get no apology as he backs away with tail between his legs.

BN&F has removed the two articles linked below, but the comments remain.  Still nothing from the owner/publisher in the form of an apology to Miss Murmurs but more importantly to his readers whom he placed the entire blame on for this fiasco.  Comment below from 'Article 1' by former blog owner to what appears to be the new blog owner.

The last 24 hours over at Ben's News & Friends (BN&F) has been an interesting time to say the very least.  An "informant" of the blog claimed Miss Murmurs removed her website due to a legal cease & desist action asking her to remove certain content from her blog.  BN&F placed this on their blog & twitter as a "BREAKING STORY" with more to come. 

What did come was Miss Murmurs coming back (in classic Miss M fashion) claiming what the blog had written wasn't true & restored her entire blog online to prove the point.  Just this morning the new owner/editor at BN&F puts this beauty of a headline up on the BN&F blog...

What type of owner/editor attempts to put the blame for this mess on his readers & so-called tipster - IT'S YOUR BLOG & YOU PUBLISHED IT - so take responsibility for it!!!  What I don't know is if the cease & desist action "will be" filed or was even considered or not, but you can imagine what followed in the comments section.  After being took to task by his readers, the new owner/editor responded which leads to more questions about his & his blogs credibility...

We saved the best comment for last as it comes from former editor/owner of BN&F Benjy (Greg Franklin)...

The tipster for BN&F remains an unknown for obvious reasons... could it be the commenter known as Esteban who made vague claims of this "cease & desist" for two days?  Let's hope the new owner/editor at BN&F does the right thing on this one & keeps it to himself!  The new owner/editor at BN&F has a large hill to climb in front of him regardless if anything were to come of this or not.  He not only has to learn the ins/outs of blogging but also must attempt to establish/rebuild his credibility & regain the trust of his readers that choose to stick around.
