Adult Webcam Awards - Is This The End?

Friday, November 9, 2018
It appears the Adult Webcam Awards (AWA's) may have just finally sealed their fate.  This much maligned event which over the years never gained much support from the industry surprisingly ended their final voting after just 14 days.  After making claims that clearly contradict their history (CGN Article Oct. 12) it appears that their "NO BULLSHIT" claim has also been thrown right out of the window.  Here is their tweet regarding the 2019 awards which ended more than a month early...

The response from webcam performers is about what you'd expect since none of those who were nominated had any clue about a shortened voting period.  The term "scam" has often been associated with this event since its inception & performers are calling it that again this year as shown below...
x
x
After all that has happened with this particular event over the years & how they have treated webcam performers it is hard to believe the event will continue in any type of format.  In the last couple of years several new events have successfully launched here in the United States & received rave reviews from webcam performers not to mention wide spread industry support.  It goes to show how you treat people really matters.

The Adult Webcam Awards (AWA) Is At It Again...

Friday, October 12, 2018
The Adult Webcam Awards is an event many of our readers might recall from a few years back.  The event had to cancel their show due to lack of support from industry sponsors & became an online only event.  Recently the events organizer tweeted some comments which contradict their own past & are the reason they couldn't secure industry support for a second show & conference...
x

Their first year was held in conjunction with The Adult Webcam Conference & trade show (same owner), free sponsorships were widely rumored & the owners of Adult Webcam News website a sponsor for each of their events also owns the awards event, & in what most posters in the XBIZ Forum believed to be a back-room deal trans-performer Kelly Pierce who had the most votes didn't win the category award as it was given to another performer who wasn't even nominated.
x
x
In our "Award Show Overview" write-up this past January this event was using average monthly votes, super votes, & social media credit in order to determine their winners.  Camguy Johnny Stone was burned by this event last go around as he believed the claim on their website "Get the most votes and you win!!"   In 2019 they claim a single round of voting, no industry super votes, but nothing on past winners getting a 20% bump but the writing above on industry input is a little vague...

Adult Webcam Awards Cancelled

Sunday, November 13, 2016
Following a turbulent first year the Adult Webcam Conference & Awards Show have been cancelled.  Founder Ron Lee states: "This decision is one we did not want to make but rather a decision that had to be made due to our inability to secure adequate financial support to hold the events."  The Awards Show will continue as an online event only, no actual show will take place.  This was first announced in September but there was hope a sponsor would step forward, but at this late date it is highly unlikely to happen.

We saw this coming as many of the listed sponsors including the main sponsor of the events AdultWebcamNews.com are owned by the founder of the events himself - Ron Lee.  In following this it was clear early on there was little support from the industry for such an event especially one that was accused of fraud & un-professionalism leading up to the inaugural show.  If you would like to read all about this follow the link to CGN's articles... (AW-Conference & Awards.)

The First Annual Adult Webcam Conference & Awards - A DISASTER!

Saturday, January 30, 2016
This past week the Adult Webcam Conference & Awards kicked off at the Alexis Park Hotel in Las Vegas.  Much has been written about these event since they were first announced in March of 2014.  So how did things go according to a few of those who actually attended the events?

The first event was the Conference & Expo on January 20th.  For the Expo (B2B) companies rented floor space where they setup their booths showcasing their products & services.  Those attending said it was slow & little if any business took place which wasn't much of a surprise considering the much bigger Adult Entertainment Expo was taking place directly across the street.  Some of the educational tracks drew decent crowds while others had little interest of those in attendance.  This didn't prevent the event from tweeting out it was "standing room only" but their photographer didn't get the message because most of the pictures posted showed empty seats.  Maybe a little editing could have been done perhaps?

One attendee says the tracks weren't properly organized in comparison to other shows & a few track leaders were "no shows" causing their sessions to be cancelled.  Another performer who attended said while it's nice educational tracks were offered it really wasn't worthwhile for her.  Several of the tracks were said to be so basic it was almost like webcamming 101 or webcamming for dummies.

January 21st was to be the events 'Fan Day' with the floor being turned over to performers to meet their fans & promote themselves.  The cost to attend for fans was discounted months earlier to 'just' $60 but was still a big bust according to performers in attendance.  Basically it was performers mingling among themselves with only a few fans attending, the rest were across the street at the Adult Entertainment Expo.  In the XBIZ Forum it was stated that most performers left cards on their table & went across the street where all the action was taking place.  Comments from performers were that you need 'people' for such an event to take & the other shows are the ones to attend as this was a waste of time.

The awards show & dinner took place during the evening of January 21st.  The organizer made the claim additional seating had to be made available so all those wanting to attend could be accommodated.  This was most likely due to increased demand from deep discounts being offered in the final month as the event wasn't "sold out" far in advance as they were claiming it would be.  One of the presenters of an award commented the production of the show was slightly "unorganized" with too much dead time between awards.  Overall though the dinner & awards show received many positive comments from those in attendance saying it was a nice ceremony with everyone enjoying themselves.

The huge issue plaguing the awards show event was the voting.  The voting process wasn't handled as everyone was promised by the event, which clearly states "get the most votes and YOU win the grand prize."  Instead in the Trans Performer category Kelly Pierce received the most votes overall but wasn't the recipient of the award. The "declared" winner of the award TS Rianna wasn't even in the final voting group for the award!  So what happened?  Another leading performer, Ari Dee stated she was contacted in July regarding her plans to attend the event & it was implied to her "winners would be chosen based on who would be attending the event."  I guess this is how some un-nominated performers won.

So all the promotion performers did for Ron Lee & his event meant nothing (only if they attended) as well as all those who took time to vote... wonder how many other categories this took place in?  So far he has avoided answering this specific question in forums where he is active & this is being discussed.

Will there be a year 2 of the Adult Webcam Conference & Awards Show?  Comments from industry professionals in forums agree that it was a "sub par" event.  Year 2 will likely depend on support from sponsors.  It is widely known many sponsors (webcam sites) lent their name to the event in exchange for free passes for their models wishing to attend.  Check a certain big sponsors camsite blog (news & announcements) for confirmation.  Did any sponsors find value which will lead them to writing checks for year 2?  Ron Lee acknowledged the glitches saying he will work hard to make year 2 better.  He shared the events will be held at the same time next year, will be free for webcam performers, reliable internet will be available & more to follow.

Adult Webcam Awards Lead Organizer & Host Quit...

Friday, December 4, 2015
The Adult Webcam Conference & Awards shows are quickly approaching so we thought we'd check up on them once again.  With about 45 days before the events you would expect them to be putting the finishing touches on what is being touted as "the largest celebration ever in the adult webcam industry." Since the events were announced in March by founder Ron Lee negativity & accusations of unprofessional behavior have been claimed by webcam performers.  Up until this point it has only been webcam performers accusing Ron Lee of such behavior, however that recently has changed.

Here on CGN we've written 6 articles (AWA) since March sharing accusations & screen shots from various websites proving these accusations against Ron Lee to be truthful.  In the last few days Ron's unprofessional behavior has hit new levels as Coralyn Jewel (Lead Organizer) & Taylor Stevens (Show Host) have both recently backed out of the event citing unprofessionalism.  Take a look at the tweets below...

This really confirms the information reported in the past including all the information found in the Xbiz forum regarding this event.  Taylor Stevens just commented on our October 19th article stating "He is beyond unprofessional there is a reason I backed out and his lead organizer is backing out."  With the event dates quickly closing in Ron has taken charge of organizing the events per his "Organizer Messages" found on each of the events websites.  If you can get past the numerous typos on the sites you will find many amusing statements including one stating "The next steps were of course to find more actual live webcam entertainers like me."  Neither in the messages or in the past has he mentioned being a webcam entertainer, either it's another typo or just saying anything in attempt to gain acceptance.

With most of his team running for the hills willing to tell others not to get involved with the events what is next?  Well, Taylor for one has quickly found a new highly respected event to support....

The Live Cam Awards are the first independent show & supported by all the major webcam sites.  CGN just reported their 2016 nominations are now open (2016 LCA's) so be sure to go visit their website to nominate your favorite performers.  So what is next for Ron Lee & his events as he now must attempt to rebuild a team?  As word continues to spread how many webcam performers will want to get involved & better yet how will the adult industry as a whole react to the recent happenings?

The Adult Webcam Awards Is Turning Into A Dumpster Fire!

Monday, October 19, 2015
The 2016 Adult Webcam Conference & Awards show is continuing their preparations for what is to be their inaugural events in Las Vegas, NV this coming January 20th-21st.  You might recall from past articles (link) here on Cam Guy News they got off to an extremely rough start which made it doubtful in all circles including everyone in the adult industry that these two events would even take place at all.  We thought this would be a good time to check in & share what is taking place or has changed regarding these events.

There is a lot of negativity associated with this event.  The primary cause is Ron/Jason Lee the events founder & how he treats webcam performers whom he wants to get involved in the event.  When he communicates in private he is extremely rude but when he's exposed in forums he & his lead organizer claim to know nothing of this.  Their problem is performers are sharing images of the communications for which Ron & his team have no answers for.

Below are a few links which show specific examples of how Ron/Jason Lee is treating others such as female performer "alittlekink." Take a look at this link (AWC) in which Ron/Jason Lee is asking her to speak during an panel at his show, he gets testy when she asks questions & shows no professionalism even asking her at one point if she's high!  Tell us who is rude, obnoxious, unprofessional, & quite possibly high?

Below we have Tweets/Facebook posts from a popular performer along with webcam industry events attempting to distance themselves from the Adult Webcam Conference & Awards who've tried to gain credibility through their successes....

The link Jane shares is for the private forum on Xbiz.com with the thread on the Adult Webcam Conference & Awards being a popular one.  Due to forum rules we cannot really share specifics but it contains posts from webcam performers, industry executives, with the shows "lead organizer" & Ron/Jason Lee eventually posting too. As comments along with specific claims from those in the industry pile up the responses from Ron/Jason & team are comical as it's literally like the blind leading the blind from their end.  Eventually it gets to the point where he & his team exit the forums claiming they aren't posting again but he continues to send rude private messages to those who post against him/his events in that thread.
x
Even though we cannot share screen caps from the XBIZ Forum due to it being private we can say if you know any performer thinking of getting involved in this event... Tell them to think twice.  From the events lead organizer not appearing to know what she was getting herself into & the man behind the event still treating performers like crap when they refuse to get involved in his event this is one to sit out.  There are also rumors of other possible industry conflicts to be in play so spend your money on popcorn to watch this dumpster fire.

The Adult Webcam News / Adult Webcam Conference & Awards Sponsorship!

Sunday, July 12, 2015
An all new webcam industry news media company is up & running claiming they will be covering all things related to the webcam industry.  The website Adult Webcam News is planning on covering technology, regulatory, award shows, & all industry summits.  So where did this site come from & who is behind it?  The same embattled Ron Lee (Jason) who is behind the Adult Webcam Conference & Awards that hopes to somehow pull of their first event this coming January.  Much has been written about these events here on CGN, XBIZ Forums, & performer forums with none of it being positive either.

Now we get to share some more amusing tidbits about both his "media company" & his upcoming events.  First, Adult Webcam News makes the claim to cover ALL events pertaining to the webcam industry, however they are overly selective at what they do cover.  Here is a list of events they somehow chose not to provide coverage on:
x
- The AW-Summit Expo & Awards Show in Romania, which is one of - if not the biggest in the industry... nothing at all reported.
x
- Cam Con in Miami, mostly for female webcam models... nothing reported.
x
- News about another huge event this coming week LAL Expo in Medellin, Colombia... nothing at all reported.
x
- The series of webcamming articles featured on Xbiz.com... again nothing reported.

The AW-Summit & Awards are likely what he views as his competition, as would the Cam Con & LAL Expo events.  Despite being established & legitimate events reported on by all other major sites like XBIZ & AVN this new site offers nothing.  The omission of the webcamming articles that are published on XBIZ are understandable since this is the exact type of information he is attempting to charge $300 for at his events.  So what is reported?  Live cam related articles found on other major news sites are linked & information regarding his own events.  His claims of being the webcam industry source are falling way short.
x
Advertisement on his Adult Webcam News is all about the Adult Webcam Conference & Awards just as Adult Webcam News is a platinum sponsor of his other events.  This all but proves that he is having issues attracting legitimate paying sponsors for his events as we have been reading about in performer forums where his events have only been able to use certain companies names on the website & events in exchange for free tickets for camsite performers.  We have also seen some white label camsites listed as sponsors which are probably his own camsites as this type of camsite wouldn't offer promotional dollars.
x
Who knows if these events are actually going to take place at all.  One thing is for sure, it doesn't take a genius to see how this business plan is unfolding - all models should beware before giving this outfit any money.

Adult Webcam Conference & Awards Is On The Move, But Is It Enough?

Tuesday, April 7, 2015
The Adult Webcam Conference & Adult Webcam Awards Show is on the move.  It was recently announced they are changing venues & dates for their inaugural events.  The event is being pushed back several days to January 20-21 & moving to the Alexis Park All Suite Resort across from the Hard Rock Hotel.  Here is the updated schedule:

Day 1: B2B adult webcam centered day, the main conference day.

Day 2 (10-4): Day long party with models showcasing their "brands" & meeting fans along with industry executives.

Day 2 (5-7:30): Adult Webcam Awards Show

These changes were obviously triggered by low interest in the event.  Their date change which we suggested in our last article became a necessity in an attempt to gain more interest & hopefully traffic from the mega-event taking place next door at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino the AVN or Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) which is being held January 20-23, 2016.  Changing their venue going off-strip was less costly but I wonder how the AVN feels about all of this?  Also their new venue is a non-gaming family style hotel which makes this all a little odd.

In our introduction to this event I stated there is still time to make this a quality event worth attending.  They have a long way to go but changes such as this will give this event a chance to be successful at least.  You can read our two features & our readers comments regarding this event, some of which are critical & not received well by the event itself (Link 1) (Link 2).  Let's take a look at the costs to attend this event & the other ones we have reported on, keep in mind none of these include travel, lodging, or other personal costs.

European Summit: 3 Days / Barcelona Spain
Cost: $399 / Over 800 in attendance

Live Cam Awards / Barcelona, Spain
Cost: $127 / Over 300 in attendance

AW-Summit & Expo: 3 Days / Mamaia, Romania
Cost: $161

AW-Awards / Mamaia, Romania
Cost: $106

LalExpo - 3 Days / Medellin, Colombia
Cost: Early Bird $250 / Regular $289

Adult Webcam Conference: 2 Days / Las Vegas, NV
Cost: Early Bird $249 / Regular $299

Adult Webcam Awards: Las Vegas, NV
Cost: Early Bird $249 / Regular $299

There you have the rundown on the costs for the Expo's & the dinners - which a few of our readers commented on in the links above.  The event that sounds the most fun & exciting is the AW-Summit with all the entertainment they have lined up.

A New Las Vegas Webcam Conference & Award Show - Will It Happen?

Monday, March 16, 2015
Have you heard about the Adult Webcam Conference & Awards scheduled to be held in Las Vegas, NV?  Both are to be held January 15, 2016 at the Luxor Hotel & Casino pending enough sponsorship to make this happen.  Chaturbate is said to be on board, but rumors circulating are it isn't a paid sponsorship with their Platinum Level status costing $12,000.

The Adult Webcam Awards (AWA's) are similar to the recent Live Cam Awards with different award categories offering 18 overall.  Voting in some of their categories has already began with others to follow at a later date.  I find the process being used to be confusing & not well planned out like the Live Cam Awards.  There is a single round of voting in this event whereas the Live Cam Awards had a nominations period followed up by a final voting round consisting of the top vote earners.  CGN will keep you posted on this voting process as we learn more about it.
x
One thing we do know is that Max Hughes has been nominated for the Best Male Cam Model 2015 so congratulations to Max for being nominated.

The Adult Webcam Conference is trying to differentiate their event from similar events by putting the focus on performers.  However this really isn't any different at all. The event will kick-off with a guest speaker touted as one of the biggest names in all of webcamming, meaning they hope they can find someone.  The tracks include Personal Branding & Social Media, Security - Law - Taxes, Tricks of the Trade, & Affiliate Marketing.  Much of this could be considered "Webcamming For Dummies" as there is nothing new here other than affiliate marketing.

CGN will keep an eye on this event as more detailed information is made available. Any model or interested observer may attend this event but be prepared to shell out $250-$500 for admittance (refunds available only if event is cancelled.)

The organizer doesn't know much about the Male Webcam Industry as they asked on Twitter who the camguy in a Voyeur Boy tweet was.  With Jaden Storm's resume I'd think someone starting an event would be able to figure this out.  It is still early so the organizers have time to fix these issues so the events are unique & worthwhile.  Their #1 goal has to be getting more sponsorship money otherwise none of this will matter at all.  Despite the odd timing of the event with huge AVN Event the following week also in Las Vegas (maybe they should change their dates) at lot has to come together so I wish them the best, it looks as if they are going to need it.
