The State of Texas Attorney General is suing Chaturbate for non-compliance with the states new age verification laws. The lawsuit claims Chaturbate isn't doing enough to stop minors from viewing adult content. The lawsuit is asking for $1.78 million as well as $10k a day for every day after the lawsuits filing.
It makes me wonder what changes Chaturbate will have to make to become compliant with this law or might the camsite block access within Texas? This has happened with other porn sites already rather than changing to become compliant in states with laws similar to Texas. Could this force Chaturbate to change their account creation process as it pertains to free accounts (grey)? Interesting times ahead...
State of Texas sues Chaturbate and XHamster over age verification law.

Absolutely disgusting! Shame on the state of Texas for wasting tax payer dollars when they know there is a pending constitutional challenge.https://t.co/FXKwBcmoax
*Update...
Chaturbate has made some changes for viewers who access the camsite from the state of Texas in order to comply with the states age verification law. Any viewer who is in the state of Texas will need to have their age verified in one of two ways. Both of these ways are found on Chaturbate's Texas age verification page. Once a viewer is verified they won't be asked to do this during each login. Keep in mind this is the same for all types of accounts, ones with tokens & greys who haven't purchased tokens. In order to access Chaturbate in Virginia & Utah verification is now required.
*Court of Appeals Update...
An appeals court denied a request to put the law on hold while the entities appealing it reach out to the Supreme Court asking them to review the laws constitutionality.
No grey usernames would be a bummer for the trolls.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if that will happen, but to be compliant something will need to change with account creation I'd think.
DeleteHope Texas doesn't get blocked a few hot models I like would be gone.
ReplyDeleteI am on sites where I had to sign up with my email and enter my credit card to get access. If Chaturbate did this the banned trolls would be fucked and newly banned ones too. Getting rid of them would be good but other good users might go away too.
ReplyDeleteMost grey's are good so it would be too bad for them. But, if a CC was needed they could create an account & not purchase tokens if that is an issue.
DeleteOnly a matter of time before everyone has to do this and it will kill viewership on Chaturbate.
ReplyDeleteEasy solution to this would be to use a VPN based outside of Texas. Simple
ReplyDeleteThat will work, unless this is rolled out nation wide & implemented for all users regardless of country since this is a hot point in many European countries too. I don't think it is imminent, it would be challenged in court & work it's way through the appellate courts too.
DeleteAdded another update - A court of appeals rejected a petition to order a stay on the new Texas Law, meaning the law remains in effect. Those entities who appealed it are now appealing to the Supreme Court to review the law & it's constitutionality.
ReplyDeleteIf this becomes a national law the adult content market will suffer and the models too. With as many data breaches I keep hearing about there isn't a way of making sure our info is safe and we could be exposed. I am a Flirt4Free and Chaturbate gray and will not do the verification.
