Update On Chaturbate's Juvenile Troll Problem...

Recently CGN reported on the trolling issue that has been occurring on Chaturbate & the chaos they have been causing.  As of late the trolling is still occurring but not to the level it once was taking place.  We haven't heard of members getting banned from the camsite as they once were but there are still chaotic activities taking place.  Recently, I came across CamGuyNews being trolled once again in a chat room & hey if they want to keep throwing our name out there let them LOL...

Just the other night I witnessed how trolls act when certain members enter a chat room, additionally this chat room was banned shortly after this screen cap was taken presumably because the camguy is still in high-school (but 18 years of age).  But who knows with how Chaturbate operates sometimes...

Now if "Lotsip" did record shows what exactly is he doing with them?  He certainly is not selling them online as I don't believe he owns the websites to do this on & it would be easily tracked if he did.  Instead of harassing other members why aren't these trolls lobbying Chaturbate to put an end to their own affiliates & other websites recording of shows then uploading them online for profit at times too.

Our last article on Chaturbate Trolls (article) created a lot of discussion which I think many of you read through.  In these comments many readers mentioned trolls posting comments & it was obvious in some cases this was happening.  I had my own debate in that thread with someone using a former camguys name, Deancovid19.  I have been in possession of a Snap-Chat conversation with the real "Deancovid19" when his former moderator reached out to find out what he did & why he would say these things.  Well, it turns out it was a troll & not the real "DeanCovid19" as he was not aware someone was pretending to be him using his former camguy name...

Why this continues I've heard many theories from several of the camsites members.  I really believe there is some jealousy because a group of members mods many popular camguys chat rooms & also has some big tippers among them.  This might keep some wanna-be-mods from this role in certain chat rooms but the camguy is really there for the tokens so what is the problem?  The comments section in the other article confirms jealousy is a big reason for the trolling & when the facts don't support the points they were trying to make they turned to conspiracy theories.

Who really cares who the moderator is in a chat room or what type of camguy they may be moderating for?  If moderator does what the camguy asks of them & brings members with tokens I say good for the camguy as he is the one who manages his chat room, not the moderator.  Let us keep in mind being a moderator isn't a paid position either, so if you aren't a moderator what's the big deal?  I'd like to share my opinion on something I observed while wandering in & out of chat rooms on Chaturbate over the last months.  Moderators should only moderate one chat room at a time not 2 or 3 which I observed in more than a handful of occasions.  If your going to moderate a chat room that camguy deserves your full attention.

Recording of Webcam Shows & How it Effects Performers

A big problem for webcam performers is having their shows recorded & placed on the internet on one of the free tube sites.  This can lead to members not tipping during live shows, loss of private shows, loss of content site subscriptions, but more importantly it takes away a performers privacy which has lead some performers to quit camming.  It actually goes beyond the free tube sites as many of these "websites" attempt to charge monthly membership fees to view these pirated shows, more on these shortly.

For many of us this practice is nothing new as it has been going on for years & performers that we know have been caught up in this.  Several years back one of my favorite camguys actually quit performing on webcam due to this.  He blocked a few regions from viewing his broadcasts so his family & friends could not see him but when Chaturbate did nothing about these recordings he felt he had no other option than to quit.  It is likely that most performers aren't even aware of this practice & their responses sure would be interesting if they were to find out Chaturbate is (other camsites too) allowing this to happen.

By now we are all aware of Chaturbate's troll issue & we are seeing them falsely claim certain members are recording a camguys shows (usually newer camguys).  Once the camguy hears this it has lead to members being banned from chat rooms & even the camsite (CGN Article).  Camguys are obviously pissed off when they think a certain member is doing this & Chaturbate is banning members who are falsely accused but yet they allow these websites to sell their pirated content.  Do you see anything wrong here?

The websites above are only a few of the hundreds that came up when doing an online search.  Some of the links are directed to a particular camguy or male performer page to show what can be found.  What I find to be disturbing is that most of these websites are 'affiliates' of Chaturbate or other popular camsites.  When a visitor to one of these websites clicks on a camsite link/icon & signs up the camsite will then pay the website a sign-up fee or a percentage of whatever that person spends on the camsite.  However, recording videos & offering them for sale isn't part of the affiliate deal & none of the camsites are doing a thing about this.  So for the performer who thinks their privacy is being protected by their camsite, think again.

Chaturbate's Juvenile Troll Issue Exposed & How Camguys Can Stay Safe

Last week we reported on the chaos & confusion that dishonest trolls were creating on Chaturbate.  This week we are sharing more specific examples of what these malicious trolls are doing to create such chaos & confusion in chat rooms.  But first a security tip: It is recommended that all performers login using the usual Chaturbate login page rather than a link that may have been sent to you.  This will help to keep you safe from possible fraudulent activity by trolls attempting to steal your tokens & money.

A long-time camsite member, who enjoys supporting camguys was recently banned for the third time because he was reported by trolls.  According to our research, he didn't do anything wrong.  When he saw a troll account in a chat room, he'd simply alert the camguy & other users.  He shared an email with CGN that he sent to customer service & an executive at Chaturbate regarding this situation:

"For the third time, you have banned me from your site for doing absolutely NOTHING wrong.  I have violated no TOS and never will.  I have been a loyal, contributing moderator on your site for years, but, NOT any longer if this injustice is left to stand.  I openly oppose the hackers who try to steal tokens from your cammers, and trolls, and even mods who support them.  Therefore, I am a threat to them.  So, they undoubtedly LIE about me to you because they know you react to their FALSE emails.  I have sent screenshots of death threats made to me on your site.  I will send more evidence of their blatant LIES and threats in this email."

You can see for yourself below some of the threats the member has been experiencing in multiple rooms across the Chaturbate camsite.  It has steadily gotten much worse & threatening the longer this is allowed to continue.  This type of behavior detracts from the camguy making it harder for him to collect tips & cannot be tolerated any longer...

As you can see the trolls create user names that are very similar & often use the names of valid users as we pointed out in last week's article.  This is just one of the ways these trolls are creating chaos & confusion in chat rooms.  Can you imagine how challenging it must be for camguys to collect tips & for users to enjoy the show when activity such as this is allowed to take place?  

CGN is in contact with a security expert who is helping members in their fight against these trolls.  He sent Chaturbate the email below, which he also posted on Twitter with suggestions on how to solve the problem quickly:      

"Chaturbate has a big troll problem.  It is costing you time, money, and resources.  I have a simple solution and am looking for no money from you.  All of CB's accounts should have an email &/or phone number.  This is how Twitter and the other social media sites do it.  No email address or phone number should be associated with more than three accounts.  This change will not impact legitimate users and won't take much money or time for you to make.  Additionally, it will prevent trolls and the automated bots from creating multiple accounts.  Please know all I am looking for is a safer, more secure and sane Chaturbate."

As we previously mentioned always use the main website login & don't follow links sent in an email or chat.  When in doubt, always review & question any links.  You should use the option of Multi-Factor Authentication whenever possible to protect your accounts too.  These safety measures are necessary, because it appears that some of these trolls are hackers attempting to gain favor with newer camguys by grooming: using tips & compliments to gain trust.  They will then ask to become a moderator for the camguy & take the room over silencing anyone (even tippers) who try to help the new camguy out.  Once trust is fully established the troll/moderator will then tell the camguy to login using a fake website where they will then take over the account & all of the camguys earned tokens.

Other ways for camguys to protect themselves is to check a user's profile before they get too friendly or give them moderator privileges.  A real Chaturbate user will have an established profile with followers & details about themselves most likely.  Another way a camguy can protect himself is to ask his highest tippers or even other camguys to verify potential moderators.

Camsites are meant to be fun for members & allow camguys to enjoy themselves while earning money too.  If a camguy or member of any camsite should ever feel threatened take screen shots if possible & report it to the camsite immediately.  Also, check out our CGN ' Juvenile Trolls on Chaturbate' page.

The Juvenile Trolls on Chaturbate are out of Control

If you have been on Chaturbate recently you likely have noticed or came across one of the camsites ever present trolls.  Their numbers have increased which has lead to more disruption for the camsites performers, moderators, & viewers.  The trolls usually just excessively spam chat rooms but are now making death threats, suggesting that others should "go hang themselves," & fooling Chaturbate into banning long time members who do a lot to help camguys out.  The trolls usually are "grey members" who haven't made a purchase on the camsite but as of late many have tokens in their accounts too.

In an effort to get member accounts banned these trolls are direct messaging performers that certain members are recording webcam shows & uploading them to popular tube site PornHub.  One long time member I chat with has went through this 2 times recently & Chaturbate has reinstated his account as he had done nothing wrong.  Many other members have been receiving bans upon entering a chat room as trolls have manipulated camguys into believing their lies & deceit.  Thankfully other members have been setting the camguys straight as to this practice.

In many chat rooms when a troll is identified & banned they return quickly posing as another member using a very similar username.  This is happening in rooms all across the camsite & non-disruptive members are being confused for those who are the cause of the disruptions.  With Chaturbate refusing to take action to get this situation under control members are doing what they can to light a fire under the camsite.  There is a Twitter account @ChaturbateSquad that was started & lists all of the troll usernames to alert camguys & hopefully the camsite too.  In perusing some of the usernames you can easily see how many are close to other performer & member usernames.

Popular camguy Johnny Stone who has been featured on CamGuyNews has also sent Chaturbate a message threatening not to broadcast until they take this seriously & do something about it.  One member suggests Chaturbate should do an IP ban on all the known troll accounts as that would get this under control.  It is a good idea but it isn't feasible as many Chaturbate performers, members, or potential ones could be banned in the process as their IP addresses may fall in the ban range.  Camsites do this only as a measure of last resort to stop a problem, remember when Flirt-4-Free did this to keep Annie (AnnieGirl) off their camsite?
